The level of existing and potential military threats for Russia may increase significantly by 2030, and wars for natural resources should be expected, General Staff chief Col. Gen. Valery Gerasimov said on Thursday.The level of military threats will be linked to the struggle among the world’s leading powers for fuel and energy resources, markets and “living space,” he said, adding that military capability will be actively used to ensure access to those resources.

U.S. Air Force developing swarms of tiny unmanned drones
Surveillance and Assassination Now down to the Micro (soon to be Nanotech) level. How Cute!!
The U.S. Air Force is developing tiny unmanned drones that will fly in swarms, hover like bees, crawl like spiders and even sneak up on unsuspecting targets and execute them with lethal precision.
The Air Vehicles Directorate, a research arm of the Air Force, has released a computer-animated video outlining the the future capabilities of Micro Air Vehicles (MAVs). The project promises to revolutionize war by down-sizing the combatants.
Air Force officials said they have already produced tiny remote-control prototypes – but they consume so much power that can only operate for a few minutes.The military has already produced a drone patterned after a hawk moth that can flap its wings 30 times a second.
The drones will work in concert to patch together a wide, detailed view of the battlefield – singling out individual targets without losing sight of the broader scene. The drones fly – not like planes, but like insects. High frequency flapping wings allow the drones to hover and maneuver in tight spaces.The Air Force is working on technology that will allow the drones to steal electricity from power cables and other sources – so they can continue to operate for days or weeks on end.

US military invests in smartphone device, that scans ID’s and Faces
The US Department of Defense (DOD) has awarded a $3 million research contract to California-based AOptix to develop “groundbreaking” technology that could one day allow troops in the field to use a smartphone to scan and record facial features and identity people from a distance
These “Smart Mobile Identity” (SMI) devices will allow for biological identity verification in areas where it was previously thought to be impractical, cost prohibitive, or impossible. The devices are part of a portable class of biometrics-based hardware and software products that allows built-in cameras on smartphones or tablets the ability to do facial recognition or with the help of additional sensors, provide fingerprint and iris recognition.
“Currently US troops rely on a single-use device, known as the Handheld Interagency Identity Detection System (HIIDE) to scan, upload and transmit data from someone’s facial, eye or thumb feature into wartime biometrics databases, “The potential applications of SMI include law enforcement, border security*(to keep you locked in), national and civil ID programs*(to track your every movement), disaster relief and humanitarian aid, and healthcare,”*(biometric scanning and adding your DNA to a DNA database to control even your most basic access to resources and Biosurvival) an AOptix spokesman said.

ARGUS drone spots you from 20,000 feet
Paranoid delusions about black helicopters hovering over an area will soon be out of date: The latest scary spy apparatus lives 20,000 feet up, turning 30 or more square miles into live video sharp enough to spot individual people walking around.
The ARGUS-IS array can be mounted on unmanned drones to capture an area of 15 sq/miles in an incredible 1,800MP – that’s 225 times more sensitive than an iPhone camera.
From 17,500ft the remarkable surveillance system can capture objects as small as 6in on the ground and allows commanders to track movements across an entire battlefield in real time.
An airborne processor combines the video from these chips to create a single ultra-high definition mosaic video image which updates at up to 15 frames a second.That tremendous level of detail makes it sensitive enough to not only track people moving around on the ground thousands of feet below, but even to see what they are doing or carrying.
The system is called ARGUS, after the 100-eyed god of Greek myth, and fittingly, it works by hooking together hundreds of inexpensive image sensors.

U.S. regulators approve “Argus II” bionic eye
U.S. FDA regulators approved a so-called bionic eye, giving hope to people with a rare genetic disease.Developed by California-based Second Sight Medical Products, Inc., the Argus II Retinal Prosthesis System is the first retinal implant for adults with advanced retinitis pigmentosa that results in the gradual loss of vision and can lead to blindness.
The device was just approved by the FDA for sale stateside after surmounting the same hurdle in Europe almost two years ago. The device includes a small video camera and a transmitter mounted on a pair of glasses, as well as a video processing unit and an implanted retinal prosthesis that replaces the function of degenerated cells in the retina.

Meteorite crash in Russia: UFO fears spark panic in the Urals
A series of explosions in the skies of Russia’s Urals region, reportedly caused by a meteor shower, has sparked panic in three major cities. Witnesses said that houses shuddered, windows were blown out and cellphones stopped working.
Atmospheric phenomena have been registered in the cities of Chelyabinsk, Yekaterinburg and Tyumen.
Witnesses said the explosion was so loud that it resembled an earthquake and thunder at the same time, and that there were huge trails of smoke across the sky. Others reported seeing burning objects fall to earth.
Office buildings in downtown Chelyabinsk are being evacuated. Injuries were reported at one of the city’s secondary schools, supposedly from smashed windows
According to preliminary data, the flashes seen over the Urals were caused by [a] meteorite shower,” the Emergency Ministry told Itar-Tass news agency.
Many locals reported that the explosion rattled their houses and smashed windows. Many speculated on what caused the powerful explosion – some claimed it was a crashed plane, while others said it could have been a UFO.
it is believed that the incident may be connected to asteroid 2012 DA14, which measures 45 to 95 meters in diameter and will be passing by Earth tonight at around 19:25 GMT at the record close range of 27,000 kilometers.

UFO Sightings At International Space Station On The Rise
As 2013 began, numerous UFOs were reported around the country — nothing earthshattering there — but what about alleged unidentified objects seen in space near the International Space Station (or ISS), a couple of hundred miles above Earth?
Videos have cropped up on YouTube showing images taken by NASA cameras of objects of different shapes, some moving very slowly, others rapidly hurtling through space.
What, exactly, are we looking at here? Alien spacecraft dropping by for a visit with the ISS? Reflections from ISS windows? Meteors? Or various types of orbiting or fast moving spacecraft-generated debris?

ET Discovery Could Happen Within 10 Years: World Economic Forum
The discovery of alien life or Earth-like planets and the implications to the world was a crucial item on the agenda at the annual World Economic Forum, or WEF, in Davos, Switzerland.
World business leaders and prominent politicians gathered to discuss issues or risks that the world may have to confront in the next decade.
So how did ETs become part of the mix?
In conjunction with the international science journal, Nature, the WEF came up with five “X Factor” items which it refers to as “unheralded dangers that sneak up on us.”
One of those risk issues that Earth and its inhabitants may soon face is “the possible social consequences of contact with alien life,” according to Nature.
The risk factor of all of this comes with the long-term psychological and philosophical implications that will accompany the discovery of alien life.
“It will suggest that life is as natural and as ubiquitous a part of the universe as the stars and galaxies,” the report continued. “The discovery of even simple life would fuel speculation about the existence of other intelligent beings and challenge many assumptions that underpin human philosophy and religion.”
