U.S. Surveillance Is Not Aimed at Terrorists

uncsamlisten

The debate over the U.S. government’s monitoring of digital communications suggests that Americans are willing to allow it as long as it is genuinely targeted at terrorists. What they fail to realize is that the surveillance systems are best suited for gathering information on law-abiding citizens.

People concerned with online privacy tend to calm down when told that the government can record their calls or read their e-mail only under special circumstances and with proper court orders. The assumption is that they have nothing to worry about unless they are terrorists or correspond with the wrong people.

The infrastructure set up by the National Security Agency, however, may only be good for gathering information on the stupidest, lowest-ranking of terrorists. The Prism surveillance program focuses on access to the servers of America’s largest Internet companies, which support such popular services as Skype, Gmail and iCloud. These are not the services that truly dangerous elements typically use.
The NSA’s Prism, according to a classified PowerPoint presentation published by the Guardian, provides access to the systems of Microsoft Corp. (and therefore Skype), Facebook Inc., Google, Apple Inc. and other U.S. Internet giants. Either these companies have provided “master keys” to decrypt their traffic – – which they deny — or the NSA has somehow found other means.

Similarly, monitoring phone calls is hardly the way to catch terrorists. They’re generally not dumb enough to use Verizon. Granted, Russia’s special services managed to kill Chechen separatist leader Dzhokhar Dudayev with a missile that homed in on his satellite-phone signal. That was in 1996. Modern-day terrorists are generally more aware of the available technology.

Indefinite Surveillance :NDAA 2014

Ndaaflag

Remember Indefinite Detention? Now There’s Indefinite Surveillance in the NDAA: 2014

Earlier this month, the House of Representatives voted on the National Defense Authorization Act of 2013 (NDAA), which includes a provision to indefinitely detain United States citizens without charge or a fair trial. When the House voted on 2012’s NDAA in December of 2011, it unanimously passed and President Obama signed the bill into law on the second of January.

As if the looming possibility of being indefinitely detained without charge or trial isn’t enough of a violation of civil liberties, now the 2014 NDAA is looking like it’ll focus much on surveillance gathering thanks to the Patriot Act and FISA.

Last month, the Subcommittee on Intelligence, Emerging Threats and Capabilities gathered to examine the fiscal year 2014 NDAA. Section 1061, which is known as the Enhancement of Capacity of the United States Government to Analyze Captured Records, was one of the focused topics during the meeting. It would act as a provision to the NDAA to develop a brand-new intelligence body, which would be able to scrutinize data collected through the Patriot Act, FISA, and other spying programs like the infamous PRISM, which was involved in a scandal that many now believe was a complete violation of the Fourth Amendment.

The Singularity Is Near: Mind Uploading by 2045?

2045avatar

By 2045, humans will achieve digital immortality by uploading their minds to computers — or at least that’s what some futurists believe. This notion formed the basis for the Global Futures 2045 International Congress.

The conference, which is the brainchild of Russian multimillionaire Dmitry Itskov, fell somewhere between hardcore science and science fiction. It featured a diverse cast of speakers, from scientific luminaries like Ray Kurzweil, Peter Diamandis and Marvin Minsky

Kurzweil — an inventor, futurist and now director of engineering at Google — predicts that by 2045, technology will have surpassed human brainpower to create a kind of superintelligence — an event known as the singularity. According to Kurzweil, humans will soon be able to upload their entire brains onto computers. After then, other advancements won’t be too far behind.

“The life expectancy was 20, 1,000 years ago,” “We doubled it in 200 years. This will go into high gear within 10 and 20 years from now, probably less than 15, we will be reaching that tipping point where we add more time than has gone by because of scientific progress.”
By 2045, “based on conservative estimates of the amount of computation you need to functionally simulate a human brain, we’ll be able to expand the scope of our intelligence a billion-fold,” Kurzweil said.

(So which is it Ray,2020 or 2045?)

Itskov and oher transhumanists interpret this impending singularity as digital immortality. Specifically, they believe that in a few decades, humans will be able to upload their minds to a computer, transcending the need for a biological body. The idea sounds like sci-fi, and it is — at least for now. The reality, however, is that neural engineering is making significant strides toward modeling the brain and developing technologies to restore or replace some of its biological functions.

Advancments in Artificial intelligence and mapping of the Human brain are happening at a very quick pace. Also news stories on the subject of Transhumanism, I have noticed have been a lot more prevalent in mass media, cultural conditioning anyone??

Skynet to Launch October, 2013

As some of you may know, the NSA is Constructing an enormous Data center in Bluffdale, Utah. The facility, being roughly 1 million square feet, will house a computing and data harvesting and long term data storage facility to be operational by October 2013.

The stated purpose of the facility is to “listen and decode all foreign communications of interest to the security of the United States.” But in light of the recent revelations of NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden, the data center under construction in Utah is far more likely a tool of the United States Government (and its global masters) to collect unimaginable amounts of data on Americans and eventually every human on earth.

With this so-called leak from Snowden, the public is now aware of something that has been going on for decades and, by now, would have already compiled billions of records about hundreds of millions of people in the America and the world.

The data center, at a cost of $2 billion (but much higher, based on the cost of the technology already created to make this possible) is probably the outward tip of an iceberg to introduce and indoctrinate the public to something even worse than the news that every bit of human communication and knowledge is and has been recorded for decades.
In terms of data storage, some publications suggest the data center will house digital storage capacities on the order of YottaBytes which is a number so large it is incomprehensible to the human mind. A Yottabyte is one septillion bytes or 10 to the 24th power bytes. Enough storage, indeed, to record and keep every single bit of human digital information; every phone call, text message, Internet chat, Email, song, word spoken, every book, bank account, all financial data, patents, stolen intellectual property, and more.

“Cyberdyne Systems” 2013

At the center of the data center will be one of the world’s most powerful computers ever built (at least as far as we art told). The so-called, and named with a wink to triangle-worshipping cults, ‘Titan Supercomputer’ will come alive and for the first time operate at the speed necessary and with the memory required to become conscious.the memory available to Titan is on the order of at least 5 Zettabytes or 5 trillion gigabytes, which is enough memory to incorporate 41 MILLION HUMAN BRAINS

The Titan Supercomputer, with enough computing power and infallible memory to become sentient, will come online in October, 2013 and, like “Skynet”, will it begin to learn? With the brain capacity of 41 million human minds and all of the data and information about billions of human beings – this “machine” could become quite powerful very quickly. With connections to satellites and every major power and command center on earth and the knowledge base of nearly every human mind in the written history of mankind – all written knowledge: we can only imagine the possibilities.

Did Snowden Have Access To A Secret NSA Mind Reading Program?

A bus passes by a poster of Edward Snowden, a former contractor at the NSA displayed by his supporters at Hong Kong's financial Central district

Does the National Security Agency run covert facilities at the University of Maryland or any other U.S. university?

There is information that one such facility may be involved in data mining to gain insight into what people are thinking, among other potentially intrusive programs.

Edward Snowden, the whistleblower behind the NSA surveillance revelations, told the London Guardian newspaper that he previously worked as a security guard for what the publication carefully described as “one of the agency’s covert facilities at the University of Maryland.

Some reports clearly indicate a possible covert nature to the NSA’s relationship with the university, with one such program apparently involved in data mining and the use of intrusive, controversial technology, according to reports.

One report came from PBS in January 2009, which described an NSA artificial intelligence program “designed to gain insight into what people are thinking.”

PBS reported the system is so potentially intrusive “that at least one researcher has quit, citing concerns over the dangers in placing such a powerful weapon in the hands of a top-secret agency with little accountability.” According to the PBS report, the data mining system and other secretive surveillance programs were being run out of a 120,000-square-foot building in M Square Research Park in College Park, Md., operated in collaboration with the University of Maryland.

The program above mentioned goes by the name Aquaint (Advanced QUestion Answering for INTelligence)

Wikileaks: Michael Hastings Said FBI Was Tracking Him Hours Before His Death

WikiLeaks says journalist Michael Hastings, 33, killed in a fiery crash early Tuesday morning after his Mercedes plowed into a tree near the corners of Melrose and Highland Avenues, had contacted the organization hours earlier to say he was the subject of an FBI investigation.

“Michael Hastings contacted WikiLeaks lawyer Jennifer Robinson just a few hours before he died, saying that the FBI was investigating him.”

Witnesses to the crash: “It sounded like A Bomb went off”

Investigators claim government falsified TWA 800 air crash probe

twa800coverup

Former investigators of the TWA Flight 800 airplane crash have revealed that an explosion came from outside the plane, thereby contradicting the government’s conclusion that the fatal crash was an accident.

The investigators claim they were silenced from telling the truth by their superiors, and were forced to conclude that the 1996 crash was an accident sparked by a fuel tank explosion. In a new EPIX film called “TWA Flight 800”, the former National Transportation Safety Board investigators communicate their beliefs that an outside explosion was responsible for the deadly crash that occurred nearly 17 years ago, killing all 230 people on board.

Several witnesses alleged that they saw a streak of light moving toward the aircraft before it exploded, leading some to believe that an anti-aircraft missile or rocket was responsible for the explosion. But an NTSB report drawn up after a 16-month investigation concluded that the “accident” was a result of faulty wiring that caused an electrical short circuit in the fuel gauge line, thereby resulting in a devastating fuel tank explosion. All NTSB employees and investigators were forced to stand by this conclusion, whether or not they believed it, the film’s producers said in a statement.

Despite the NTSB’s report, some Americans continued to believe that the plane was fatally struck by a missile or rocket. They were termed conspiracy theorists, and their beliefs long overshadowed by the government’s official conclusion. Pierre Salinger, a former Press Secretary for John F. Kennedy and a reporter for ABC News, claimed he had seen proof that the US Navy shot down the plane. He argued that the government covered up the truth to hide the agency’s fatal mistake.
